Dick Polich on The Art Of Lost Wax Casting

This 2007 video, created by Brian Branigan for Chronogram magazine, is part of a series highlighting local artists. In it, Dick Polich explains the intricate process of lost-wax casting as he walks viewers through his specialized Hudson Valley foundry. As the facility's owner, Polich helped hundreds of legendary artists—including Nancy Graves, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, and Frank Stella—realize their visions in bronze and steel. He and his team of roughly 100 artisans forged everything from hand-sized pieces to behemoths that barely fit inside the cavernous facility. Polich passed away in 2023 at the age of 90.
